Data encryption

PDFStore uses encryption at multiple levels to protect your files and personal information.

Encryption in transit

All connections to PDFStore are encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). This means that when you upload files, download files, or interact with the site in any way, the data travelling between your browser and our servers is encrypted and cannot be intercepted by third parties.

You will see the padlock icon in your browser's address bar confirming the HTTPS connection.

Encryption at rest

Files stored on Cloudflare R2 are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption. This means that even if someone were to gain physical access to the storage hardware, they would not be able to read your files without the encryption keys.

Password hashing

Account passwords and transfer passwords are never stored in plain text. They are hashed using strong, one-way hashing algorithms. This means:

  • PDFStore staff cannot see your passwords.
  • If you forget a transfer password, it cannot be retrieved — you will need to set a new one.
  • Even in the unlikely event of a database breach, your passwords would be extremely difficult to reverse.

Secure connections throughout

Communication between PDFStore's application servers and the storage backend is also encrypted, ensuring your files are protected at every stage of their journey — from your browser, through our servers, and into storage.
