Updating transfer passwords
If you need to change the password on a transfer after it has been sent, you can do so at any time while the transfer is still active.
How to update a transfer password
- Make sure you are logged in to your PDFStore account.
- Visit the transfer's share link in your browser. Because you are logged in as the sender, you will see additional management options.
- Use the password update form to set a new password.
- Click save. The new password takes effect immediately.
Important notes
- Immediate effect — once you update the password, anyone trying to download the files will need to use the new password. The old password will no longer work.
- Tell your recipient — PDFStore does not automatically notify the recipient when you change the password. Make sure to share the new password with them through a secure channel.
- Adding a password later — if you originally sent a transfer without a password, you can add one from the transfer's detail page using the same process.
When to update a password
Consider updating your transfer password if:
- You suspect the original password has been compromised.
- You shared the password with the wrong person.
- You want to restrict access after the intended recipient has downloaded the files.
