Getting an account after a download
PDF Store is invite-only, but if someone has sent you files, you do not need to go looking for an invite. After you download a transfer, we offer you an account there and then.
How it works
- Download the files someone has sent you, as normal.
- On the page after the download, choose to send your own files.
- You are taken to registration with an invite code already filled in.
- Finish signing up as usual, then verify your email address.
The invite is credited to whoever sent you the files. They do not need to do anything, and it does not use up any of the invites they can send by hand.
Why it works this way
Somebody chose to send you files. That is already a stronger signal than a stranger filling in a form, so asking them to then go and invite you separately would be asking them to confirm something they have already done.
The offer appears after you actually download something, not just when you open the link. Receiving a link is not the same as being someone the sender trusts with files.
If you do not see the offer
You will be pointed at the request an invite form instead. That happens when:
- You are already signed in to a PDF Store account.
- The transfer was sent by someone without an account.
- The sender has already brought in a lot of people recently. There is a limit per sender over a rolling month, so that one account cannot open the door indefinitely.
The request form is reviewed by hand and works perfectly well. It is just slower.
You do not need an account to download
Worth being clear: downloading files sent to you never requires an account. See downloading files from a link. The offer of an account is only there if you want to send files of your own.
